Puppies are born!!!

Many of you have been following the story of the two strays that we took in earlier in April.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about you can catch up and begin by reading ‘an eventful week’.

Well, Mama Emma delivered her pups this weekend! 10 of them. When we found out she was in labor, we immediately drove down to her whelping foster’s house. What an amazing experience is all I can say…

Life being brought into the world right in front of your eyes.

For more photos (and videos!), you can check us out on Instagram and Facebook!

All of the puppies were healthy and Emma did practically all of the hard work herself. A new puppy was born just about every 30 minutes since she went into labor. There are seven boys and three girls. No wonder she is passed out…

Look at the little white one!

I am so relieved that this is over for Emma, she was clearly quite uncomfortable the last couple weeks.

Not to mention the last couple days – she looked fit to burst! She gained approximately 15 lbs from the first week we had her. After the pups are weaned she will never have to go through this ever again.

So glad we found Mama & Rusty – everything that day was truly meant to be. I cannot even imagine their lives if things had turned out differently that day.

Emma and her puppies will be available for adoption through Secondhand Hounds at the end of June.

  1. Ahh! So excited! This makes me happy. So glad everything went ok. And I think I even spot a couple of black puppies with white markings. My favorite! 🙂 can’t wait to see more pics.

    1. Hi Lindsay,
I am so relieved! There are a few black ones! One has a super cute wide stripe down the middle of his face. I’m in love 🙂

  2. Happy beyond measure!!!!! Yay for Mame Emma and the little pups – and yay for you for saving them from a terrible and undetermined fate where they can all now hopefully get wonderful and loving homes! I would take them all – especially Mama – if I could!!!! You do wonderful things Sarah! 🙂

    1. aren’t they adorable! Will be fun to watch as they open their eyes and grow like weeds! I’m sure they will be adopted in no time. And hopefully Mama Emma finds her perfect home fairly soon as well! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  3. Those dogs were so lucky that you found them, and Emma is so, so lucky that she was able to have her babies in a quiet, safe place. Thank you for what you did for these dogs. So many people would’ve done nothing, and the result would have been tragic. Thank you.

  4. Awwww, these puppies were born the day before my birthday!!! My boyfriend and I are going to adopt a dog this summer, so Emma and her babies will definitely be on the radar. 🙂

    1. Hi Kaitlyn,
Awe! How awesome would that be. Good luck with your new pup – if it ends up being one of Emma’s you have to let us know ;)!

  5. Hi!
I LOVE your blog! So much great info! I was wondering if there was any more of an update on Mama and her babies? I read all the blog posts on her and Rusty. I have been so sucked in to their story and my heart goes out to both of them. They were so fortunate that you saved them!

    1. Hi April! Thank you! Mama Emma is doing amazing and so are her pups! I should do a recap 1 year update on them! All of the puppies have been adopted and same with Emma! She found an amazing family and we’ve received several updates on the pups. Thanks for stopping by, happy to know that others were following their crazy journey. Funny how everything happens for a reason…
